Deputy Secretary of State Richard L. Armitage to Announce Re-establishment of Fulbright Program in Iraq

2003/1063

Following an announcement by Ambassador Bremer in Baghdad, Deputy Secretary of State Richard L. Armitage will announce the re-establishment of the Fulbright program in Iraq in a ceremony at the U.S. Department of State. The announcement will take place in the Treaty Room in the Department of State from 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2003. Other diplomats from the region, representatives from universities, and representatives from select nonprofit educational organizations will also attend the ceremony.

Media representatives are invited to cover the ceremony.

Pre-set time for cameras is 8:45 a.m. from the 23rd Street Entrance.
Final access time for press is 9:00 a.m. from the 23rd Street Entrance.

Media representatives may cover this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center); (2) a photo ID issued by the employing media organization; or (3) a letter on official letterhead from their news organization verifying their employment as journalists, accompanied by an official photo ID (driver's license or passport).
