Research Project: WEB DELIVERED LANDOWNER SELF-ASSESSMENT TOOL FOR USDA NRCS CONSERVATION SECURITY PROGRAM

Location: Forage Seed and Cereal Research

Project Number: 5358-21410-002-08
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 19, 2005
End Date: Sep 30, 2009

Objective:
Determine how to best implement large Web-based geographic information system databases that are linked to USDA conservation assessment and planning tools and served by a Web-based map browser for use by landowners and conservation planners.

Approach:
The WebGD framework and the WebGD-GEN application generator will be used to develop a prototype Web-based application suitable for use by the USDA-NRCS to assess landowner natural resource conditions and to guide conservation remedies. Included in the prototype will be components such as the Crop Rotation Economic & Environmental Impact Decision Aid-Budget Generator (CREEDA-BG), Soil Viewer, and automated conservation worksheets to prove the feasibility of the Web-based integrated conservation management concept. Documents SCA with Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR. FY2005 $100,000 addition funded by Interagency Reimbursable Agreement 60-5358-5-0488 with NRCS in support of Conservation Security Program which was extended to 9/30/09 in May 2008.
