Research Project: COORDINATION OF FRAXINUS CONSERVATION Project Number: 5402-21000-007-02

Objective:
To provide a framework where knowledge on Fraxinus conservation can be exchanged with the goal of increasing awareness of this natural resources and promote the collections and storage of seed prior to the potential loss of the Fraxinus resource due to the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB).

Approach:
Recognizing the importance to humanity of protecting and conserving native plant genetic resources for present and future generations, the Akwesasne Task Force on the Environment (ATFE) and the National Center for Genetic Resources Preservation (NCGRP) enter into this agreement to launch cooperation for the collection and storage of Fraxinus seed. The cooperation is intended to help guarantee the security of Fraxinum genetic resources in North America for joint study, utilization, and to maintain the cultural values associated with the Fraxinus resource for native tribes in North America.
