Research Project: MICROASSAY ANALYSIS OF AGRICULTURALLY RELEVANT GENE EXPRESSION IN THE PEACH-POTATO APHID, MYZUS PERSICAE

Location: Biological Integrated Pest Management Unit

Project Number: 1907-22000-018-09
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Apr 01, 2006
End Date: Mar 31, 2009

Objective:
The objectives of this cooperative research project are to identify similar genotypes of M. persicae that differ in their ability to transmit PLRV and to investigate aphid gene expression changes due to virus transmission activity. Acct Code associated with this project- 708-1907-173.

Approach:
M. persicae genotypes collected in various locations will be tested for their ability to transmit virus, cDNA libraries and microarrays containing aphid gene segments will be used to determine gene expression changes in vector and nonvector aphids that are exposed to virus-infected and healthy plant.
