Assisted Living Residences Assisted living residences provide some assistance with activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living but do not provide round-the-clock skilled nursing services. Assisted living facilities and in-home assisted living care stress independence and generally provide less intensive care than that delivered in nursing homes and other long-term care institutions, but there is no standard definition of these places as they are licensed by individual States, if at all.
