Home Visits

Starting in 1997, the National Health Interview Survey has been collecting information on home visits received during the past 12 months. Respondents are asked: "During the past 12 months, did you receive care at home from a nurse or other health care professional? What was the total number of home visits received?" These data are combined with data on visits to doctor’s offices, clinics, and emergency departments to provide a summary measure of health care visits.
