Visibility and Air Quality on the Pisgah National Forest
The USDA Forest Service together with a number of other federal and
state agencies
is undertaking a long term air quality and visibility monitoring program
in the mountains of
western North Carolina.
The picture below is updated every thirty minutes from a remote camera looking toward Cold Mountain, Shining Rock Wilderness, Pisgah National Forest. |

The Shining Rock Wilderness Air Quality Page is being maintained by Randy McCracken, USDA Forest Service Southern Research Station webmaster. This site is under construction and will be periodically unavailable while equipment and links are installed or updated. The air quality monitoring project was jointly funded by the National Forests in North Carolina and the North Carolina Dept. of Health, Environment and Natural Resources Division of Air Quality.
