for Medical and Osteopathy (M.D., D.O., Podiatrist, Physician Assistant, EMT-B, and EMT-P)

 

Physician

  • Prior to application for licensure, applicant must pass the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
    • To apply, call the Federation of State Medical Boards at (817) 868-4041 or go to www.fsmb.org to register online.  The exam is offered throughout the year on Oahu.

Osteopath

  • Prior to application for licensure, applicants must pass the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) examination or the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
    • NBOME: To apply, call NBOME at (773) 714-0622 or go to www.nbome.org to register online.  The exam is not offered in Hawaii.
    • USMLE: To apply, call the Federation of State Medical Boards at (817) 868-4041 or go to www.fsmb.org to register online.  The exam is offered throughout the year on Oahu.

Podiatrist

  • In addition to submitting an application for licensure, applicants must call (808) 586-3000 for exam materials to register directly with the testing agency.
  • The exam is offered in Honolulu and Kailua on:
    • June 4, 2008 (application deadline is March 13, 2008); and
    • December 3, 2008 (application deadline is August 29, 2008).

Physician Assistant

  • Prior to application for licensure, applicants must pass the required exam.
    • To apply call the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants at (678) 417-8100 or go to www.nccpa.net to register online.

EMT - B

  • Written exam:  applicants must pass the NREMT EMT-B exam.
    • To apply, call (614) 888-4484 or go to www.nremt.org to register online.  The exam is offered throughout the year on Oahu, Maui, and Hilo.

EMT - I

  • Writtten exam:  applicants must pass the NREMT EMT-I exam.
    • To apply, call (614) 888-4484 or go to www.nremt.org to register online.  The exam is offered throughout the year on Oahu, Maui, and Hilo.
  • Practical exam is offered on Oahu on:
    • January 13, 2008 (application deadline is December 9, 2007)
    • January 27, 2008 (application deadline is December 23, 2007)
    • June 29, 2008 (application deadline is May 25, 2008)
    • July 27, 2008 (application deadline is June 22, 2008)
    • December 14, 2008 (application deadline is November 9, 2008)

EMT - P

  • Written exam:  applicants must pass the NREMT EMT-P exam.
    • To apply, call (614) 888-4484 or go to www.nremt.org to register online.  The exam is offered throughout the year on Oahu, Maui, and Hilo.
  • Practical exam is offered on Oahu on:
    • July 20, 2008 (application deadline is June 15, 2008)
