U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE--ECONOMICS AND STATISTICS ADMINISTRATION BUREAU OF ECONOMIC ANALYSIS--REGIONAL ECONOMIC INFORMATION SYSTEM PERSONAL INCOME FOR THE STATES AND REGIONS OF THE UNITED STATES [I Quarter of 1948 through the II Quarter of 2008] 18 September 2008 This document refers to the State Quarterly Personal Income estimates downloaded from the world wide web as one compressed archive. ** THE DATA FILES ARE COMPRESSED AND MAY ONLY BE USED WITH THE PROVIDED SOFTWARE, WRITTEN FOR THE WINDOWS 95 OPERATING SYSTEM. THE SAME INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE ON OUR WEBSITE-- http://bea.gov/regional/sqpi/ ** PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW. You have received the Regional Income Division's quarterly personal income estimates for the U.S., regions, and states of the Nation. Personal income is expressed in millions of dollars. No adjustment has been made for inflation. Quarterly personal income estimates for the second quarter 2008 were released September 18, 2008. The quarterly estimates for the first quarter 2005 through the first quarter of 2008 have been revised since the June 19, 2008, release of quarterly personal income. Estimates for earnings in table SQ5N, by North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) industry, are now available back to the year 1990. Estimates for first quarter 1948 through fourth quarter 2001 remain in the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) coding for industry detail. Note that the estimates are released under both classifications for the four quarters of 2001 as well as for 1990-2001 for table SQ5N. The next quarterly personal income press release is scheduled for December 18, 2008. Tables included in this installation SQ1 - personal income (full time series) SQ4 - income summary (full time series) SQ5 - personal income by major source and earnings by major industry (SIC basis up to 2001, NAICS basis from 1990 forward) SQ7 - wage and salary disbursements by major industry (SIC basis up to 2001, NAICS basis from 2001 forward) SQ6 - compensation by major industry (SIC basis 1998-2001, NAICS basis from 2001 forward) The state quarterly personal income estimates are released four times a year, in December, March, June, and September. The usual revision schedule is as follows: in the January release the estimates for the two previous quarters are revised; in the April and October release the estimates for the three previous years are revised; in the July release the estimates for the four previous quarters are revised. In an effort to remain consistent with the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) suppressions for wages and employment, BEA now includes suppressions for states and Regions at the division level.
