Work
with us to sustain global forest resources...
Forest
Service International Programs partners with many types
of organizations, large and small, private and public,
on a wide range of technical cooperation and policy
development issues.
How
we work:
We
provide technical skills by tapping the expertise of
a large number of Forest- Service researchers, foresters,
wildlife biologists, hydrologists, policy makers, and
other specialists. We can provide assessments for project
development or technical support to existing projects.
We have collaborated on projects funded by the World
Bank, FAO, UNDP, USAID, and others in every region of
the world.
Examples
of what we do:
- In
Albania,
Forest Service hydrologists conducted an assessment
of four critical watersheds that will form the basis
of future restoration and protection work.
- In
Mexico and Indonesia,
Forest Service trained in-country counterparts to
reduce the risk of catastrophic fires and to assess
their underlying causes.
- In
South Africa,
Forest Service helped to coordinate disaster response
efforts in areas destroyed by heavy flooding.
