Asbestos Information
The U.S. EPA Region 4 conducts inspections throughout
the eight southeastern states to evaluate compliance with the Agency's
asbestos regulations. EPA regulates asbestos according to two environmental
laws, the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), which addresses
asbestos in schools, and the National Emission Standards for Hazardous
Air Pollutants (NESHAP), issued pursuant to the Clean Air Act. The Asbestos
Bulletin link will lead you to more information about Region 4's asbestos
enforcement program. To learn more about AHERA and NESHAP, click the links
