Dr. Richard Anderson from the Beltsville Human Nutrition Research Center, Diet, Genomics and Immunology Laboratory was honored with the National Nutritional Foods Association's Burton Kallman Scientific Award in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 15, 2005 for his pioneering work in the field of nutrition and diabetes.


Invitations

Dr. Joseph Urban, Research Leader of the Diet, Genomics and Immunology Laboratory, Beltsville Human Nutrition Center, was invited to present work on functional genomic analysis of the infection of swine with Trichuris suis at an international workshop on "Helminths as Modulators of Immunity" in Tremsbüttel, Germany on June 23 to 25, 2005.

ARS scientists and colleagues have isolated and characterized several polyphenolic polymer compounds from cinnamon bark that could one day become natural ingredients in products aimed at lowering blood sugar levels.
