CEDES-Sponsored Symposium on Waste Management/Legislation Workshop
CEDES, Sonora's state environmental agency, is extending an invitation to a Symposium on Waste Management/Legislation Workshop. The event will be held on October 20-24, 2008 in Magdalena, Sonora.
Background: In October 2007, CEDES held a successful inspector training workshop that had 45 Mexican participants. For this event, they have invited and expect participants from all the border states and Durango. Once they have confirmations from any US individuals, they will make arrangements for hotel reservations. If you are interested in attending, please contact Saul directly to get details (sarufer@hotmail.com).
They are holding this event with funds resulting from the recent EPA Reg 9 border 2012 competition; BECC is administering the grant. I don't think they expect to provide translation services, but if there is enough interest, this could be reconsidered.
Information from CEDES in Spanish: De acuerdo a lo conversado en Cd. Juárez, te informo que durante los días 20 al 24 de octubre próximos estaremos realizando el curso-Taller de capacitación en materia de residuos en Magdalena de Kino, Sonora. Dicho curso se organiza con fondos de COCEF, Ayuntamiento de Magdalena y CEDES y estamos haciendo la invitación para los estados fronterizos de México (BC, Chi, Coa, Tam, Nvo León y Durango); sin embargo, quiero invitarte y que hagas extensiva la invitación para sí algunos interesados del lado americano gustan participar, dado que este tema está contemplado dentro del Grupo Residuos y aplicación de la Ley. Por ejemplo recuerdo el esquema de Ozzie Morales de Imperial Cupa tiene algo por el estilo, etc.
Sobre los hoteles, ya el Ayuntamiento de Magdalena hará las reservas de las habitaciones por lo pronto y las irá distribuyendo con los nombres una vez q se vayan definiendo los nombres.
La agenda la estamos diseñando, por eso la invitación a participar con una ponencia o para llevar el curso. Por cierto el nombre oficial es "SIMPOSIO DE LEGISLACION Y CONTROL DE LA CONTAMINACION POR RESIDUOS EN LA REGION FRONTERIZA"
