Special Census Employment Opportunities

Special Censuses are conducted at the request of local and tribal governments throughout the 2000 decade. If your community has entered into an agreement with the U.S. Census Bureau to conduct a Special Census, please consider applying for a Special Census Job. Communities currently recruiting for Special Census job applicants are listed below. Contact your community to find out more about census jobs.

Job Description

Most positions involve locating households, updating addresses, and conducting interviews with respondents. Enumerators meet with their crew leader daily to turn in completed work.

Jobs last anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks. Enumerators work flexible hours, primarily evenings and weekends when respondents are home. It is expected that all employees work a minimum of 25 hours each week.

Pay rates vary by location. U.S. Citizenship is required. Employees must be 18 years of age or older. Those working in the field must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
