  1.      NEDSS Base System (NBS) Version 1.1.3 Completed - Allows for

  • States using the NBS to submit all nationally notifiable conditions through NEDSS and sunset out the old NETSS dos-based reporting system.

  • Case management for more than 140 diseases/conditions available.

  • Comprehensive foodborne and enteric disease surveillance functionality included.

  • Includes Human and Animal Rabies

  • Allows for the development of customized fields in NBS including collaboratively-defined fields (done in partnership with CDC and national coordinating organizations such as ASTHO, CSTE and NACCHO).

  • Collaboratively and locally-defined fields metadata repository begins at CDC with automatic reporting of new field names and standardized vocabulary.

  1.       Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina and Nebraska all using NBS for nationally notifiable disease reporting.
