Mission:
The Forest Insects and Disease Working Group promotes the protection of forest resources throughout North America for the benefit of member countries and future generations. The Working Group aims to achieve this through: a) the prevention and eradication of forest insects and diseases and b) the maintenance and improvement of tree and forest health in through international cooperation that supports forest health initiatives

Objectives:

  • Promote the development, improvement and transfer of technology related to the management of insects and disease affecting forest health.
  • Collect, exchange and disseminate information, and technology relevant to the management of insect and disease.
  • Act as a technical advisory body to the North American Plant Protection Organization (NAPPO), and to urge NAPPO to deal with issues and provide technical support.
  • Advise and report to the NAFC on progress and challenges in carrying out the objectives and activities.
