Visiting Researcher Exchange and Outreach Project

[Educators & Students Higher Education]
[Available: Nationally]

The Visiting Researcher Exchange and Outreach project, also known as VREO, is a partnership between the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, or NASA/MSFC, Academic Affairs Office and the Universities Space Research Association, or USRA. The project is designed to stimulate involvement of university, private sector and government agency researchers with NASA/MSFC. The project goal is to provide an effective link for collaboration between NASA/MSFC scientists, engineers and technologists and the higher education and aerospace industry communities. Visiting Researchers include scientists and engineers, undergraduate and graduate students, college faculty, and post-doctoral and distinguished senior researchers. Visiting Researchers are requested and funded by NASA/MSFC project offices, laboratories and directorates. The length of appointment is determined by specific research tasks.

The outreach component of the VREO project facilitates the exchange of scientific, engineering and technical information between NASA/MSFC and outside communities by coordinating seminars, meetings, workshops and colloquia. Additionally, the VREO project assists in coordinating the review of white papers and the documentation of research. VREO uses university and industry alliances to meet the "just-in-time" needs of MSFC customers.
