Plan Your Visit

Welcome to Lowell!

It’s exciting to welcome you to Lowell National Historical Park as we’re celebrating the Park’s 30th anniversary in 2008. The past thirty years have seen tremendous transformations in the Park and the City, and we’re glad you are here to join in everything that Lowell has to offer today.

Lowell National Historical Park, when it was established in 1978, as today, benefits from partnerships and forward-thinking
neighbors that have kept new ideas percolating and rolling
along with positive outcomes. During this anniversary year, we are engaging in a lively conversation with the community
and those who care about the National Park’s future.

You will find many opportunities to explore Lowell—whether it is locking through the canals out to the Merrimack River, or walking the Canalway and Riverwalk, or onboard our replica historic trolleys’, it should be a great experience. Don’t forget that the park is a proud partner of the Lowell Folk Festival; the 22nd annual edition is slated for the last full weekend in July. And throughout the summer season, the Lowell Summer Music Series brings renowned musical performances and kids shows to Boarding House Park.
