Statement of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao
On September Unemployment Numbers
WASHINGTON—U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao
released the following statement on the September unemployment numbers released
today:
“The economy has been through a great deal lately—devastating hurricanes
and rising oil prices. Yet the unemployment rate remains at 5.4% and 96,000
jobs were created last month. This shows the strength and resilience of
our economy and that the labor market continues to improve.”
