ABSTRACT: The Property Management System - Firearms (PMSFA) is a database used to track firearms by type of weapon, identification of the custodian, and offices within the DEA.

PURPOSE: The DEA Firearms Training Unit utilizes this database to track and locate weapons purchased by the DEA for assignment to individual law enforcement personnel.

ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: All records are protected from unauthorized access on a need-to know basis by the use of assigned passwords. This systems is only accessible to members of the DEA Office of Training, the Firearms Training Unit and its designee (Field Firearms Primary Officers).

USE CONSTRAINTS: Use of the database is restricted to those authorized to performed their assigned tasks.

AGENCY PROGRAM: The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is mandated to enforce the Controlled Substances laws and regulations of the United States. Because of this mandate, it is charged with the distribution, training, tracking and monitoring of all firearms utilized by the law enforcement personnel within the agency. This database is one of the tools utilized by the DEA to accomplish the task.

SOURCE OF DATA: Data contained in the system is obtained from records and reports, statistical scores of law enforcement personnel qualifications, personnel assignment rosters, as well as the input received from the DEA Field Offices.
