ABSTRACT: The Official Personnel
Files (OPFs) store all official government personnel documentation
for each employee of the DEA.
PURPOSE: The purpose of the OPF's
is to store and safeguard official Federal government documentation
relating to employment matters for respective DEA employees. The information
contained in the OPF's include those documents originating from the
date of inception through the date of termination, thereby presenting
on official record of the employees career in DEA.
ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: All OPF's
are stored alphabetically in the DEA OPF File Room. Personnel Specialists,
Investigators, Supervisors, the affected employee, and other officials
determined to have a need to know, are allowed access to the OPF's
during business hours. Each OPF is retrieved by a file clerk assigned
to the OPF File Room, logged out to the requester and records into
a central log book. Each person having access to an individual OPF
also records his or her access to the file inside the left cover of
the OPF. The OPF File Room is locked each evening and only the File
Room Supervisor, Security Officer and other designated Office of Personnel
officials may access the OPF File Room during non-business hours.
USE CONSTRAINTS: OPF users are
restricted to those authorized to perform assigned tasks.
AGENCY PROGRAM: This system is
one of the tools utilized by DEA to maintain the official personnel
records of each employee of the agency. It should be considered vital
to the implementation of the personnel rules and regulations governing
the hiring, recruitment, training and tracking of the individuals employed
within the DEA.
SOURCE OF DATA: Data contained
in the OPF's is the result of official personnel matters and actions
affecting the individual employee.
