ABSTRACT: The Health Services
Unit Information System (HUMIS) encompasses all centralized electronic
medical examination records of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
personnel and applicants. DEA utilizes the HUMIS in tracking and maintaining
periodic medical examinations taken and to be taken by this selected
group of DEA employees and applicants. This system consists of a secure
data base which resides on a dedicated server and is connected to designated
terminals within the Health Services Unit (HPMH) by a local area network.
PURPOSE: Track and maintain current
status of required medical examinations for selected DEA personnel
and applicants.
ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: All records
in HUMIS are protected from unauthorized access through appropriate
administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. These safeguards
include restricting access to those individuals with a need-to-know
to perform their official duties, using locks and passwords for data
communications.
USE CONSTRAINTS: Use of HUMIS
is restricted to those authorized to perform assigned tasks.
AGENCY PROGRAM: The HUMIS is
a tool utilized by the DEA to provide the Office of Personnel with
a centralized electronic database which maintains all medical examination
records for each employee of the agency. This system is vital to the
agency because of its ability to track, monitor and store information
contained in each medical record and to manipulate employee records
when required. It should be considered as an important system within
the DEA in order to accomplish the mission of the agency.
SOURCE OF DATA: Data contained
in the HUMIS include an abstract from DEA's personnel system and information
from selected data from completed medical examinations.
