ABSTRACT: The Drug Testing Program
Record System encompasses all information from the Drug Enforcement
Administration Headquarters and field offices regarding the DEA urinalysis
drug testing program. The DEA utilizes the system to conduct drug testing
of applicants and employees. This system consists of records containing
sample collection and drug test results by date and social security
number.
PURPOSE: Records for test collection
and test results are maintained in this system in order to permit DEA
to manage their drug free workplace program and screen employment applicants
pursuant to Executive Order 12564 or 1986.
ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: Records maintained
in the database are protected from unauthorized access through appropriate
administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. These safeguards
include restricting access to those with a need-to-know to perform
their official duties, using DEA issued picture identification badges,
and securing cabinets and tumbler lock safes.
USE CONSTRAINTS: Users of the
database will be restricted to only those official personnel whose
access is necessary to perform assigned tasks.
AGENCY PROGRAM: The DEA is the
drug enforcement arm of the U.S. Department of Justice and is tasked
to enforce the controlled substances laws and regulations of the United
States. This system is one of the tools of DEA to ensure the drug free
integrity of its employees and applicants.
SOURCE OF DATA: Data contained
in the system is the result of drug testing collections, laboratory
testing, the medical officer reviews, and any other actions conducted
by the Office of Personnel.
