ABSTRACT: The Confidential Source System (CSS) is a centralized listing of all sources of information utilized by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in drug trafficking investigations world wide.

PURPOSE: The system is used to identify and locate any source of information that has provided information to DEA, or has performed an activity under the specific direction of any DEA law enforcement personnel.

ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: All records are protected from unauthorized access through appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. No information may be released outside of the DEA without the approval of the DEA's Office of Chief Counsel.

USE CONSTRAINTS: Use of the system will be restricted to those authorized to perform assigned tasks.

AGENCY PROGRAM: The CSS provides the Office of Operations Management within the DEA with real-time, direct access management of all source-identifying records, and is considered to be critical to the support of the DEA mission.

SOURCE OF DATA: Data contained in CSS is the result of information provided to DEA through a variety of sources (i.e., State and local agencies, federal law enforcement agencies, internal intelligence reports, etc.) and information obtained as a result of DEA investigations world wide.

The requester will also provide a return address for transmitting the information.
