WASHINGTON, D.C. - Director of U.S. Foreign Assistance and Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Henrietta H. Fore will arrive in Bangladesh on Nov. 20 for a 24-hour visit.
During her stay, Fore will observe first hand the devastation caused by Cyclone Sidr and USAID-funded relief assistance. She will meet with senior government officials to discuss how the United States can continue to assist Bangladesh in this time of need. She will also present an airlift of USAID emergency relief supplies including 300 rolls of plastic sheeting for constructing temporary shelters, 5,000 blankets, 2,500 10-liter water jugs and 2,500 family hygiene kits. The commodities will benefit an estimated 15,000 people. The value of all USAID assistance to date is more than $2.35 million.
Fore was observing USAID programs in Africa and rearranged her schedule to make the trip to Bangladesh. Administrator Fore was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the first female administrator of USAID on Nov. 13.
