A bird's eye view of the Needles
 
With stunning aerial footage and time-lapse photography, this 15-minute video showcases the landscape of sculpted rock known as Canyonlands. A brief overview of the area's geology, natural and cultural resources, as well as recreational opportunities provides a great introduction to the park. This video is also shown at the Island in the Sky and Needles district visitor centers.

Did You Know?
The dirt is alive! A living crust called "Biological Soil Crust" covers much of Canyonlands and the surrounding area. Composed of algae, lichens and bacteria, this crust provides a secure foundation for desert plants. Please stay on roads and trails to avoid trampling this important resource.
