GAO Reports

GAO Reports, also called "blue books", are the reports on audits, surveys, investigations and evaluations of Federal programs conducted by the U.S. Government Accountability Office. Published reports and testimonies can be obtained from GPO Access and the Government Accountability Office. GPO Access also includes correspondence and special publications, but not any materials that are restricted or classified.

Both resources allow you to browse or search by date, topic and agency. GPO also allows you to search by the report number. GPO Access covers documents from 1993/1994 (limited) through present day. The database is updated within two business days of a report's release and documents are available in text and/or PDF files.

The Reports and Testimony database from GAO is updated daily and documents are available in text and/or PDF files. Dates covered are from pre-1970 through present day. GAO also provides electronic alerts online. There are three subscription types offered: "Today's Reports and Testimony" for a daily e-mail containing links to all reports and testimony released on the current day; "Month in Review" for a monthly e-mail containing links to all reports and testimony released during the previous month; and "GAO Reports by Topic" for e-mails when reports and testimonies are released regarding the selected topic.
