SUTRA and related programs (SutraSuite)

The software referenced on this web page is known collectively as SutraSuite. It includes the SUTRA ground-water model and a number of utilities for pre- and post-processing for simulations in two or three spatial dimensions (2D or 3D). Users are encouraged to read the SutraSuite Release Notes (ReleaseNotes_SutraSuite.pdf), which give an overview of the SutraSuite software and offer advice on how to get started using SUTRA and its associated utilities. The SutraSuite Release Notes are included with the SUTRA, SutraPrep, and SutraPlot installations released September, 2003 or later. They can also be downloaded separately using the link below.

The SutraSuite Online User Reference (SOUR) web site provides a convenient, interactive source of information about theoretical and practical aspects of SUTRA simulation. It includes news, advice on how to get started using SutraSuite, an overview of the software, a gallery of SUTRA simulation results, answers to frequently asked questions, a glossary, in-depth discussions of selected topics, and technical support information, including a troubleshooting guide.

To ensure compatibility between the various SutraSuite codes and associated example problems, users are encouraged to download and use the most up-to-date releases. For each of the codes below, the most up-to-date version appears at the top of the list.

SutraPlot

Windows-based plotting of results from 2D and 3D SUTRA simulations.
(A version of SutraPlot that is compatible with SUTRA Version 2.1 is currently under development.)

Windows-based visualization of results from 2D and 3D SUTRA simulations.

GW_Chart

Version 1.18.0.0 (June 16, 2008)  
Visualization of SUTRA budget data and hydrographs of observations.

CheckMatchBC

Version 1.0.2.0 (January 11, 2007)  
Utility that aids in setting up SUTRA specified-pressure, specified-concentration, and specified-temperature boundary conditions.

This site (http://water.usgs.gov/nrp/gwsoftware/) provides links to the most up-to-date USGS ground-water modeling software. New releases are posted on this site as soon as they become available.
