Diversity Day Pictures
headline bar
On September 16, 2003, the Agricultural Research Service Headquarters Civil Rights Staff sponsored the 3rd Diversity Day celebration in the George Washington Carver Center's Courtyard, Beltsville, Maryland. All Special Emphasis observance groups were represented, featuring educational information, artifacts, and tasting cultural foods. A Passport Game was introduced this year, where employees visited each ethnic group displays, answered cultural questions before receiving a completed stamp (minimum 4 stamps) on their passports. Employees were delighted to receive a complimentary diversity mug after answering four diverse questions. The game was fun and educational.

Dr. Edward B. Knipling, Acting Administrator, provided opening remarks. Employees also enjoyed a colorful and diverse Variety Show. Two large cakes were served with the event's logo and theme in the center, "Diversity Makes the World Go 'Round." The Diversity Day celebration was very successful due to a dedicated planning committee and many volunteers and contributors.
