The National Weather Service Office in Hastings relies on over one hundred dedicated cooperative observers across South Central Nebraska and North Central Kansas. The observers report daily high and low temperatures, 24 hour rainfall and snowfall, and river readings. The data are used to enhance to nation's climate database and aid in forecasts and warnings. Delmar Schoenfish, river observer from Furnas County, Nebraska, obtains a river reading from the chain gage. |
