Experience the Corridor of Commerce First Imagined by George Washington

The Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail is a partnership to develop a network of locally-managed trails in a corridor between the mouth of the Potomac River and the Allegheny Highlands. As of autumn 2008, 830 miles of existing and planned trails have been recognized as segments of the National Scenic Trail.

Climate

The Trail corridor has a temperate climate typical of the Mid-Atlantic United States with four distinct seasons. Summer tends to be hot and humid, spring and fall are mild, and winter can be cold with freezing temperatures and, on occasion, significant snowstorms. Precipitation can occur in all seasons.

Did You Know?
John Brown's Fort has been moved 4 times: in 1891 to Chicago to the World's Columbian Exposition, in 1895 to the Murphy Farm near Harpers Ferry, in 1909 to Storer College Campus and in 1968 to its present location.
