Make sure to plan both a fun and safe visit to the park. Many of the park areas are open and offer little or no shade. The Kona sun is often very hot and intense, with daytime temperatures ranging in the mid-eighties. Bring along water and sunscreen. If you plan to explore around the trails bring sturdy walking shoes, sunglasses and a hat. As always, be alert when participating in any activity in or around the ocean and be sure to check for any high surf warnings or weather advisories before planning your activities.
