Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) is a principal teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School and a federally designated comprehensive cancer center. DFCI provides expert, compassionate care to children and adults with cancer while advancing the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, cure, and prevention of cancer and related diseases.

DFCI supports the following activities:

  • Survivors of Childhood Cancers: The David B. Perini, Jr. Quality of Life Clinic opened at DFCI in 1993 to provide care and advocacy for childhood cancer survivors, conduct research on the long-term effects of cancer treatments, and offer education and support.

  • Survivors of Pediatric Brain Tumors: The Stop & Shop Family Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Outcomes Clinic addresses the long-term needs that survivors of pediatric brain tumors may have, conducts research, and shares knowledge with other centers.

  • Survivors of Adult Onset Cancers: Launched in Fall 2004, the Lance Armstrong Foundation Adult Survivorship provides clinical services for adult cancer survivors. When fully operational, the clinical care and research will focus on various problems adult survivors may face after therapy.

  • Adult Follow-Up Care: To address their long-term physical and emotional needs, adult survivors continue to receive follow-up care with their physicians in the appropriate disease centers at Dana-Farber, and can take advantage of the resources of the Lance Armstrong Foundation Adult Survivorship Clinic as needed.
