Project Title: National Master Naturalist Program Initiative
Project Location: National
Applicant Information: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
Type of applicant: State Agency
Total Grant: $20,000.00
Brief Summary: This project will involve state wildlife agencies in the creation of a national network made up of at least twenty states that have Master Naturalist volunteer and training programs in order to produce a corps of educated volunteers who help partner state agencies accomplish more in the area of conservation and enable greater outreach throughout the US. The primary target population of the program is older adults who receive research-based training on environmental and natural resource management issues in their communities and, in return, provide volunteer service that benefits conservation and environmental issues in their local communities.
Environmental Outcomes: A national network will increase the capacity to protect the health of older adults from environmental hazards, and increase awareness, especially among urban populations, on the health benefits of protecting and conserving environmental resources.
