:: About the COLLABORATIVE ON HEALTH AND THE ENVIRONMENT (CHE) ::

April 23, 2003 was a lobby day for those groups interesting in promoting a series of environmental health legislation. A wide spectrum of groups and communities have organized the Environmental Health Legislative Working Group (EHLWG) and joined together in Sacramento to encourage legislators to support a variety of bills that support good health for all Californians. These bills included, among others, measures limiting pesticides use in schools, more stringent regulation concerning the release of particulate matter, better restrictions on lead exposure, adequate funding for environmental regulation enforcement, and mandated biomonitoring for Californians.

To learn more about this series of bills, please download this matrix which will give you a brief description of each bill, its legislative author and its sponsoring organizations with contact information, and information about how the implementation of the bill will be funded. You may also want to talk to the local office of your state legislator to discuss a particular bill and to indicate your support and your concern about a particular health issue.
