Description
Established in 1981 as the legacy of U.S. Senator William Benton, founder of Benton & Bowles and owner of the Encyclopedia Britannica, Benton's mission is to promote communications tools, applications, and policies in the public interest. The foundation is working towards this goal through its leadership in the nonprofit community in the field of communications by acting as a broker between nonprofits, private industry, and government and by serving as a laboratory for communications technologies and strategies. The work of the Benton Foundation has been supported by a variety of corporations and foundations.
