Description
Founded in 1989, The North American Menopause Society (NAMS) is North America's leading independent, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the health and quality of life of women through an understanding of menopause. Its multidisciplinary membership of 2,000 leaders in the field -- including clinical and basic science experts from medicine, nursing, sociology, psychology, anthropology, pharmacy, epidemiology, nutrition, education, and basic science -- allows NAMS to be the preeminent resource on all aspects of menopause to both healthcare providers and the public. To help meet its objectives, the Society offers scientific courses and convenes a yearly scientific meeting featuring acknowledged experts in the field. The Society also sponsors the Menopause Practitioner competency examination to help identify clinicians with menopause expertise, and as part of its mission to foster quality research, offers a variety of awards and grants.
