The National Perinatal Information Center (NPIC) is a non-profit hospital membership organization and health services research center. NPIC's primary purpose is to assist in the process of assuring high quality, accessible perinatal care through the development and dissemination of information and the implementation of strategies for change at the community level. NPIC merges the data into the perinatal center data base, creates a national patient-based information system, and generates comparative, clinical, and financial reports to its members. NPIC has also been involved in various areas of health services research and has focused on issues that impact the financing of perinatal care.
