Description

The National Caucus and Center on Black Aged (NCBA) was founded in 1971. As of 1987, the Caucus had 48 chapters. It is currently the largest nonprofit minority organization headquartered in the nation's capital. NCBA's focus is fourfold: 1) advocacy on a wide range of issues affecting the lives of older black Americans; 2) program development to further the short-and long-term interests of the black elderly in education and training, research, health and wellness promotion, employment, information development and dissemination, and organization outreach; 3) housing sponsorship, development, and management for lower-income and disabled seniors; and 4) field development to strengthen and broaden existing national and community-based organizations that assist the black elderly.

Print Resources

NCBA publishes informational reports, papers, and fact sheets on issues affecting the African American elderly.
