Description

The Association for Persons with Severe Handicaps (TASH), is a nonprofit, membership organization that exists in the interest of people who have traditionally been labeled severely intellectually and/or developmentally disabled. The ongoing concerns of the Association include: advocacy for comprehensive, high quality, inclusive education and habilitation; effective use and sharing of experience and expertise; support for educators, parents, and service providers; and enabling full participation in inclusive community settings that support the same quality of life available to people without disabilities. TASH addresses these concerns by providing information and referral services, helping chapters to support local and regional concerns, sponsoring an annual international conference, and through its publications.

Print Resources

TASH offers its Publications List, which includes books, monographs, and videos. Serial publications: TASH Newsletter, monthly--contains information on inclusion, publications and resources, legislative issues affecting people with disabilities and those who work with them, pre- and in-service training, family and support issues, and news of upcoming conferences; and The Journal of the Association for Persons with Severe Handicaps, quarterly--contains research findings and practical applications of instructional procedures for people with disabilities.
