The World Hunger Education Service is a nonprofit organization with a small paid staff, assisted by volunteers, that disseminates information on the world hunger problem. The Service sees food in a broader context of the world economic order and works to obtain a just economic order, so that all are well fed. The Service was founded in 1976 and is incorporated under District of Columbia laws. The Service works closely with religious organizations and other anti-hunger organizations nationwide. The Service acts as a clearinghouse, and publishes information.
Print resources, Hunger Notes and Who is Involved with Hunger, have been phased out and replaced with the on-line version of Hunger Notes, which contains a guide to organizations involved with hunger. Hunger Notes is currently engaged in placing the print edition of Hunger Notes, which ran from 1975 to 2000 online.
