Description

The American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA), founded in 1942, provides a forum for the exchange of ideas among professionals in group psychotherapy. It makes available published information on all aspects of group psychotherapy. AGPA attempts to maintain high standards of ethical and professional practice. It promotes research in group psychotherapy. Membership is restricted to qualified mental health professionals.

AGPA provides a number of publications, including a consumers' guide, guidelines for the training of group psychotherapists, and an annotated bibliography of films on family and group psychotherapy. Serial publications: International Journal of Group Psychotherapy, quarterly--single topic discussion of issues in group psychotherapy; The Group Circle, bimonthly newsletter--announcements of membership changes, information about current projects, descriptions of AGPA activities and programs; and The AGPA Membership Directory, annual list of members, addresses, and phone numbers.
