Budget Notes
Because of the complexity of cost data and the definitions of budget categories, the Oregon Program is happy to provide budget details on consultation with individuals seeking assistance.
Funding Sources
- CDC/OSH
- Excise Tax
- Public/Private Partnership
- RWJF SmokeLess States Grant
- Voluntary Agency
- Other: The Tobacco-Free Coalition of Oregon
Funding Notes
Unlike in many other states, no funds supporting Oregon's cessation program have been allocated from the 46-state tobacco settlement. Primary program funding has been from the cigarette excise tax. Due to the serious budget shortfalls in Oregon (as in many other states), the state has recently reduced available funding from tax dollars by more than 50%. The future of the program is currently under study.
