school professionals working in HIV prevention education.
- Provided training and technical assistance for teachers in
evidence-based approaches to HIV prevention with an emphasis on school
districts where data have indicated a lack of HIV prevention education.
- Maintained a cadre of trainers to implement evidence-based,
scientifically evaluated programs for youth in juvenile justice
facilities.
- Partnered with the Nevada Area Health Education Center to work with
parents across the state to encourage parent-child communication and
parental involvement in HIV prevention education in the home.
Conducted the Youth Risk Behavior Survey
- Collected health risk data that are representative of students in
grades 9−12 in the state.
- Analyzed YRBS data and compiled, published, and distributed YRBS
data summaries.
- Educated local-level decision makers on how to use YRBS data to
inform program planning.
