Albuquerque, New Mexico — 2003–2008

From March 2003–February 2008, Albuquerque Public Schools in New Mexico received funding from CDC’s Division of Adolescent and School Health to develop and implement an asthma prevention program.

Past Program Activities

Addressed Asthma

  • Provided asthma education and management training to nurses, mental health providers, counselors, and administrative staff at each participating school.
     
  • Identified students in need of asthma services and health care insurance coverage and making appropriate referrals.
     
  • Increased asthma awareness among parents and community members, and soliciting community input in program planning and implementation.
