The UC MBEST
Initiative is a regional economic development effort focused on
developing collaborative research-business opportunities in the
Monterey Bay Crescent
region.
A key component
of this initiative is the development of a new research and technology
center on 1,100 acres of land acquired by the University of California at the former Fort Ord on the Central California Coast.
Of the 1,100 acres, nearly 500 acres will be developed into a vibrant
new research and industry center and approximately 600 acres will
be managed as open space habitat by the UC
Natural Reserve System.
Leveraging
the resources of the University
of California Santa Cruz and more than 30 Crescent institutions from around
the Monterey Bay Crescent, MBEST is a world-class center of
excellence, providing an unparalleled investment opportunity.
