Shore and Sea Boundaries: Volume Three

By Michael W. Reed

The Shore and Sea Boundaries series, which was begun 40 years ago, is an invaluable resource for attorneys, judges, and all those concerned with defining the maritime boundaries of the United States. Volumes One and Two, by Aaron Shalowitz, were published in 1962 and 1964; however, since that time the United State Supreme Court has resolved at least 16 maritime boundary cases. An updated Shore and Sea Boundaries was needed.

Volume Three, published in June 2000, was written by Michael W. Reed, an attorney and expert involved in maritime boundary delimitation for almost four decades. In this book, Reed not only documents the legal principles derived from the numerous "tidelands" decisions that have occurred over the past four decades, but also places those decisions in historical context.

Shore and Sea Boundaries, Volume Three, was written under the auspices of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Coastal Services Center and Office of Coast Survey, and the U.S. Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service.
