The Manuscript Division of the Library of Congress holds the main body of the papers of twenty-three presidents from George Washington to
Calvin Coolidge, comprising about two million manuscript items. During the
next few years, several of these collections will be placed online, beginning
with George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln. In later years, other collections will also be digitized.
