Although our vascular plant collection numbers over 600,000 specimens only a small portion have been entered in the database. Database coverage so far includes all Minnesota specimens, some national park specimens (mostly historical), and miscellaneous specimens as they are pulled for research loans. Types and potential types are currently in a separate database not yet available online – contact a curator for type specimen data.

The database queries allow you to search on a variety of fields (or omit those you don’t want), with different search operators, and you can also enter partial choices with a wild card (*). However, the “special area query” (for individual parks, preserves etc.) is not yet fully operational due to a software issue. You can see such data, however, with the special area or advance query choices.
