1. Overview

The Tropical Cyclone Storm Surge Probabilities product is intended to provide the emergency management community; federal, state, and local government agencies; media; maritime interests; and the general public with storm surge information that enhances their ability to make preparedness decisions specific to their own situations. The product originated from requests by users for additional tropical cyclone probabilistic information, and the National Research Council's Fair Weather Report encouraging probabilistic products. For the duration of the 2008 hurricane season, June 1 - November 30, 2008, the Tropical Cyclone Storm Surge Probabilities product is undergoing testing and evaluation in experimental mode.
